    General Instructions:

    i. The question paper is divided into five sections- Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and Section E. The question paper has 12 questions in all.

    ii. All questions are compulsory; however internal choices are given in some questions. Attempt any one of them.

    iii. Marks are indicated against each question.

    iv. Section A: [Questions from serial number 1(i) to 1(xii)] has objective questions of 1 mark each.

    v. Section B: Questions from serial number 2 to 5 are short answer type questions of 3 marks each. Answer of these questions should not exceed 40 words each.

    vi. Section C: Questions from serial number 6 and 7 are long answer type questions of 4 marks each. Answer of these questions should not exceed 80 words each.

    vii. Questions from serial number 8 to 11 are competency based/source based questions, carrying of 6 marks each.

    viii. Question number 12 is a map based question of 4 marks.

    ix. Separate questions are given for visually impaired student only in lieu of map based question number 12.

    Answer. Constituency- Constituencies are called such areas from where the representatives are elected and all the voters of that area elect the representatives by using their votes.

    Short Answer Questions (2 to 5)

    Question 2. What do you understand by Green House Gases? (3)

    Answer. Carbon dioxide fails in the atmosphere and causes the greenhouse effect by stopping the heat evolved from the earth on the earth, due to which it is called green house gas. In the absence of greenhouse gas, the earth would become very cold and it would be impossible to live on it so it is a very essential gas.

    Or

    Question . State the importance of nitrogen gas.

    Answer. Nitrogen is the most abundant gas in the air. The amount of nitrogen in the air is about 78%. When we breathe, we also take nitrogen gas inside our lungs but then send it back. Nitrogen gas is of great importance for plants, it is related to their life. Plants cannot take nitrogen directly from the air, so the bacteria living in the soil and the roots of some plants take nitrogen from the air and change its form so that the plants can use it.

    Question 3. Give three examples of human environment. (3)

    Answer. Man interacts with his environment and changes it according to his needs. In human environment we can mainly place agriculture, animal husbandry, industry etc.

    Question. Give 3 examples of man made environment.

    Answer. Such environment is called man-made environment which is created by man. Three major examples of man-made environment are as follows -

    1. Roads and Bridges.

    2. Parks and Industries.

    3. Building and monument.

    Question 4. Explain the land revenue policy during Allauddin Khalji? (3)

    Answer. Alauddin Khilji was such a sultan of Delhi who had developed a very excellent land revenue system, some of its main features were as follows -

    1. During the reign of Alauddin Khilji, the state brought the work of land revenue and recovery under its control.

    2. The right to levy taxes was taken away from the local feudatories, but they themselves were also forced to pay taxes.

    3. Alauddin Khilji measured the land and kept its account very carefully.

    4. The old feudal lords and zamindars took up the job of the sultanate as revenue assessment and recovery officers.

    5. Alauddin Khilji imposed three types of taxes -

    (a) Agricultural Tax - The tax levied on agriculture was called Kharaj and it was about 50% of the farmer's produce.

    (b) Cattle tax.

    (c) Taxes on houses.

    Question 5. What do you understand by ecosystem?(3)

    Answer. Ecosystem - All trees, plants, animals and humans are dependent on the environment around them and are also dependent on each other. This relationship between the living beings and their surrounding environment forms the ecosystem. Forests with high rainfall, grasslands, deserts, mountains, lakes, rivers, oceans and small ponds can also have their own ecosystem.

    Long Answer Questions (6 & 7)

    Question 6. Sultans had to maintain a large army. Give reasons. (4)

    Answer. The Sultans had to maintain a huge army due to the following reasons -

    1. During the reign of Alauddin Khilji and Mohammad Tughlaq, the Mongol invasions on the Delhi Sultanate increased significantly.

    2. The Sultanate of Delhi had to maintain a huge army to keep the state safe from Mongol invasion.

    3. The Sultan was able to run the administration of the state in a better way through a huge army.

    4. Due to this huge army, the burden on the treasury had also increased considerably.

    Or

    Question . Write a brief note on Sultanate Era Delhi.

    Answer. The Delhi Sultanate was established around the beginning of the 13th century and with it Delhi turned into a capital whose control extended over a large area of ​​that subcontinent. The Delhi Sultanate was ruled by the rulers of about 5 dynasties and their rule together is called the period of Delhi Sultanate.

    1. Early Turkish Rulers or Slave Dynasty - The first dynasty of Delhi Sultanate is known as Ghulam dynasty which ruled Delhi from 1206 to 1210. The prominent rulers of this dynasty were Qutbuddin Aibak, Iltutmish Razia and Balban.

    2. Khilji Dynasty - The second dynasty of Delhi Sultanate is known as Khilji dynasty and the rulers of this dynasty ruled Delhi from 1290 to 1320. Its chief rulers were Jalaluddin Khilji and Alauddin Khilji.

    3. Tughlaq Dynasty - The third dynasty of Delhi Sultanate is known as Tughlaq dynasty and the rulers of this dynasty ruled Delhi from 1320 to 1414. The prominent rulers of this dynasty were Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, Mohammad Tughlaq and Firoz Shah Tughlaq.

    4. Sayyid Dynasty - The Delhi Sultanate was ruled by the Sayyid dynasty from 1414 to 1451 and its chief ruler was Khizr Khan.

    5. Lodi Dynasty - The last dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate was the Lodi dynasty and this dynasty ruled Delhi from 1451 to 1526. The chief ruler of this dynasty was Bahlol Lodi. After the Delhi Sultanate, the rule of the Mughal dynasty was established over India.

    Question 7. Who was Rosa Parks? Explain  her        role in the     Civil Rights movement in United State of America. (4)

    Answer. Rosa Parks – Rosa Parks (1913-2005) was an African-American woman. A rebellious response from them changed the course of American history.

     On 1 December 1955, exhausted from working all day, he refused to give his seat on the bus to a white man. His refusal that day led to a massive movement on inequality with African-Americans called the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited discrimination on the basis of race, religion and national origin. It also said that schools would now be opened for African-American children and they would not have to attend those separate schools. which were specially opened only to them. Despite this, most African-Americans are poor. Most African-American children are only able to enroll in government schools that, where there are fewer facilities and less qualified teachers while white students attend schools; Whereas white students attend private schools or live in areas where the standard of government schools is as high as that of private schools.

    The Mughals were descendants of two great lineages of rulers. From their mother’s side they were descendants of Genghis Khan (died 1227), the Mongol ruler who ruled over parts of China and Central Asia. From their father’s side they were the successors of Timur (died 1404), the ruler of Iran, Iraq and modern-day Turkey. However, the Mughals did not like to be called Mughal or Mongol. This was because Genghis Khan’s memory was associated with the massacre of innumerable people. It was also linked with the Uzbegs, their Mongol competitors. On the other hand, the Mughals were proud of their Timurid ancestry, not least of all because their great ancestor had captured Delhi in 1398.

    Our atmosphere is divided into five layers starting from the earth’s surface. These are Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere and Exosphere.
