Informal sources of loan means when a person takes loan from any of his friend, relative, seth, moneylender or neighbor then it is called informal sources of loan. India is still dependent on informal sources of credit due to the following reasons –

    1. This method of loan is very easy as it does not require unnecessary documents.

    2. This mode of loan does not ask for any kind of collateral loan basis i.e. nothing to be mortgaged.

    3. This method of taking loan is very easy and the person gets money very easily.

    4. Excessive documents are required to take money from banks and it becomes difficult for a common man to take a loan from a bank.

    5. The availability of formal sources of credit in rural areas of India is still negligible.
