Time Allowed: 2 Hours Maximum Marks: 40
General Instructions:
i.
This Question paper is
divided into four sections-Section A, B, C and D.
ii.
All questions are
compulsory.
iii.
Section-A: Question no.
1 to 4 are Short Answer type questions of 3 marks each. Answer to each question
should not exceed 80 words.
iv.
Section-B: Question no.
5 to 7 are Long Answer type questions, carrying 6 marks. Answer to this
question should not exceed 150-200 words.
v.
Section-C: Question no.
8 and 9 are Case Based questions, carrying 4 marks each with subparts.
vi.
Section-D: Question no.
10 is map based, carrying 2 marks
vii.
There is no overall
choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been provided in
a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be
attempted.
viii. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each
section and question, wherever necessary.

high aristocrats from making reckless use of power, the king summons them to
the court and gives autocratic orders as if they were his slaves. The
observance of these orders did not correspond to the high status and status of
those aristocrats.

What are the
characteristics of a national language?
A few months before his
death, Mahatma Gandhi reiterated his views on the question of language, saying:
This Hindustani should
neither be Sanskritised Hindi nor Persianised Urdu. It should be a beautiful
mix of both. He should freely borrow words from different regional languages.
There is no harm in taking foreign language words which can mix well and easily
in our national language. Thus our national language should be a rich and
powerful language Which can give expression to the full range of human thoughts
and feelings. To bind oneself to Hindi or Urdu would be an offense against the
spirit and understanding of patriotism.
